Question 1

Do my clients know they're talking to an AI?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Maya says she is your AI assistant when she introduces herself, and you should tell each client before you add them. She is warm and helpful, but she is not a person and she never pretends to be one. You can read every conversation and step in at any time.

Question 2

Does Espresso give financial advice?

Accepted Answer

No. Espresso is software for licensed advisers. Maya does not give financial advice or recommend products, and she passes anything that needs your judgement to you. You stay responsible for your advice and your clients.

Question 3

Does Espresso handle my clients' investments too?

Accepted Answer

In your dashboard, yes. Drop in a client's investment statement (a PDF or a photo), check each line Espresso reads from it, and the holdings are saved with a history of their values by date. A client's insurance and investments then sit on one review page that you can brief them with and hand over. Values are as at the date of each statement: Espresso does not fetch live prices or connect to investment platforms. Maya gives no advice on investments or products, and passes those questions to you.

Question 4

Can Espresso read my clients' policy documents?

Accepted Answer

In your dashboard, yes. Drop in a client's policy documents (a contract, a schedule, a renewal letter or a yearly statement) and Espresso fills in the insurer, policy number, premium and dates for you to check. Each box says where in the document it was found, and one the document's own words do not back is marked. You check every box before anything is added, and the PDF is kept with the policy. If your client's name is not on the document you are warned. The words of the document go to our AI provider to be read, and no NRIC or account number is kept. Scans and photos of policy pages are not read yet.

Question 5

Can Espresso compare plans?

Accepted Answer

In your dashboard, yes. Compare plans puts two to four plans next to each other from the facts you confirmed against each brochure, each with its page: no AI writes a box of the table, and a box says so when the brochure does not state something. On Pro you can keep a comparison with a client and hand over a copy that you have reviewed and signed off. It lays out what the brochures say; it is not a recommendation to buy, sell, switch or cancel anything.

Question 6

Who decides what a client review says?

Accepted Answer

You do. On Pro, Espresso drafts points to talk about from your own records, for example a holding that is a large part of a client's investments, or values that are out of date. They are things to ask and to look at, never what to buy, sell or switch, and nothing goes into the client's copy unless you edit it and tick it.

Question 7

Do I need to ask my clients to download anything?

Accepted Answer

No. Everything runs inside WhatsApp. No app, no account, no friction.

Question 8

Is my client data safe?

Accepted Answer

Client records are stored in a Singapore database, encrypted, and each adviser can see only their own clients. Some processing, such as the AI and WhatsApp, uses providers outside Singapore. Espresso is built to support your PDPA obligations: read our Privacy Policy for the details. Your data is yours; Espresso is your own tool, not a data aggregator.

Question 9

What happens if Maya says something wrong?

Accepted Answer

Maya answers from your client's own policy records, passes anything that needs judgement to you, and does not make product recommendations or commit to financial terms. You can see every conversation in your dashboard and step in at any time. Maya is AI, so please check anything important.

Question 10

How does WhatsApp messaging work, and how do people stop it?

Accepted Answer

Maya messages advisers about their account and their clients, and clients only on their adviser's behalf, about their policies, renewals, premiums and claims. We never send marketing messages. Anyone can stop the messages by emailing us, blocking the number or telling their adviser. See our WhatsApp messaging page for the details.

Question 11

I'm a tied agent or independent adviser — can I still use Espresso?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Maya adds value through policy questions, renewal reminders, claims support, and document handling, whichever insurers you represent.

Question 12

What is a Maya reply, and what happens if I use them all?

Accepted Answer

A Maya reply is one message Maya sends to one of your clients, and every answer counts: a client who asks five questions is five replies, whether it is one conversation or five. Your clients' own messages, renewal reminders, the alerts you receive and everything you do in the dashboard do not count. Solo includes 150 replies a month and Pro 250. If your clients use more, Maya keeps answering and the extra replies are charged in packs of 100 for SGD 29.

Question 13

Is anything charged on top of the plan?

Accepted Answer

No. Reading documents and statements, renewal reminders and analytics are part of the plan, and claims support and the investment review are part of Pro. The only extra is Maya replies beyond what your plan includes. All prices are in Singapore dollars, before any tax.

Question 14

What happens when my free trial ends?

Accepted Answer

Your account pauses: Maya stops answering your clients, no renewal reminders go out and the dashboard asks you to choose a plan. Nothing is deleted, and everything comes back as soon as you choose a plan. No card is needed to start the trial, so nothing is charged unless you choose a plan.

Question 15

Can I cancel anytime?

Accepted Answer

Yes. No lock-in: cancel in Settings and your plan runs to the end of the month you have paid for. If you close your account, your data stays available for 30 days, so you can ask for a copy.

Question 16

Which markets does Espresso support?

Accepted Answer

Espresso is built for licensed advisers in Singapore. Other markets are planned: email hello@espresso.insure to be told when they open.
